If you want to know the status of your application for Social Security benefits, try the Social Security website.  All you need is your Social Security number and your Confirmation number.  The web page – https://secure.ssa.gov/apps6z/IAPS/applicationStatus – takes a minute or so to track your claim, but it is a nice feature to Social Security’s excellent website.
